Old-Fashioned Sugared Jelly Doughnuts1/2 cup milk 1 teaspoon salt 2 packages yeast 3 eggs, separated 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup warm water 3 3/4 cup flour Vegetable oil for frying Sugar Jelly Scald milk; add sugar, salt and butter. Add yeast to warm water. Stir in milk mixture, egg yolks and 2 cups flour. Add remaining flour. For jelly filled, roll dough about 1/4-inch thick. For regular doughnuts, roll about 3/8 to 1/2-inch thick and cut. Jelly Doughnuts: Place 1 teaspoon jelly on circle and brush top circle with egg whites on one side and seal. Fry at 375 degrees F until done.
