Kentucky Butter CakePosted by Pat's Cookin at recipegoldmine.com 10/6/2001 4:42 pm 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk 1 cup butter, room temperature 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 4 large eggs Sauce 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/3 cup butter 3 tablespoons water 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt pan or 10-inch tube pan. In a large bowl, combine all cake ingredients; beat on low speed until moistened. Beat for about 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 50 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sauce ingredients; cook just until butter melts, stirring occasionally. Do not bring to a boil. Pierce the cake all over with a fork then pour the hot sauce over the warm cake. Let stand 5 minutes, or until sauce is absorbed.
