Iced Spiced Ginger Bars2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup hot coffee 1 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup molasses 2 eggs 1/3 cup butter 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 tablespoons water Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 15 x 10-inch or a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, salt, coffee, a cup butter, molasses and eggs. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool. To make frosting: In a small saucepan over low heat, cook 1/3 cup butter until light golden brown, stirring constantly. Add confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and water. Blend until smooth. (You may need to add a little more water.) Spread over cooled bars.
