Chocolate Lady FingersPosted by CJ at recipegoldmine.com 10/6/2001 2:34 pm This is another one from My Grandmother's cookbook dated 1944. 1 1/2 cups flour 2 eggs 1 cup granulated sugar 3 tablespoons cream or milk 3 tablespoons water 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 tablespoons cocoa 3 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt Beat egg yolks until thick. Add the sugar and beat until light and thick. Add vanilla extract, salt and water. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together and add it alternately with the cream or milk. Beat the egg whites stiff and fold into batter. Bake in oiled Ladyfinger tins at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes. If Lady Finger tins are not available, shape dough into lady finger shapes on an oiled cookie sheet and bake. Makes 3 dozen.
